I finished creating these talismans when I was in Taiwan, just before attending the Ten Drum Magical Forest Market and I have been wearing mine on multiple occasions to test drive when in Taiwan and after returning to Hong Kong.

My journey to Taiwan was set out to experience vending out of my own country, which is a challenge to myself as I've never done that, as well as presenting in Mandarin about magic and trolldom to people with a somewhat different culture than I do. It's also my first time travelling out of Taipei, so everything's pretty foreign to me in a sense.

Wearing The Love Charm during this trip as well as returning to Hong Kong does bring lots of benefits that exceeded my own expectations.

🫂 Good Flow Of Communication And Relationship Building 🫂

Easy and swift communication everywhere I go, there were no difficulties at all. Brings ease to my mind without the usual anxiety of starting a conversation with people I’ve never met.

One day I received a message that a friend is having an especially difficult time and I felt guided to go and talk to him, finally yielding good results that helped transform the situation into a better one which lasted till this day I'm writing this. The friend texted me back this morning telling me he had an amazing time and many wondrous moments and opportunities presented since we met.

🍀 Luck And Help Received Without Too Much Fuss 🍀

During my 10-day trip in Taiwan, I was very lucky in some situations.

Most days I finish working at 8pm and restaurants typically close at 9 - 10pm, but I kept finding good food that is still open late night till 2am without any issues, makes it even luckier for being a vegetarian.

Getting a table at a famous Showa style cafe without much waiting time despite there being 4 tables waiting before me past 12am (1.5hrs before closing time) at the very tiny shop. I saw it on Google and just hopped over out of excitement, only found out afterwards there's no reservations allowed, no takeaways available, you can only go get a table in person and wait if they're full. I almost gave up and left, after just a short walk around the area, I received a call from the cafe and finally get to try the delicious whiskey cinnamon roll pictured below.

Buying train tickets to Taipei from a small town, I lucked out in getting one of the only two fast trains on a weekday without any prior planning. 

I was too confident with getting a taxi to the train station, I waited for a while but no one picked up my order and I started getting anxious. At last there’s one who came but the driver said we won't be able to make it as I told him I’m in a hurry to catch a train, he said the ride should take around 15 minutes. We arrived in 7 minutes, half the expected time and just one minute before the train's scheduled departure time. 

Oh and my E-ticket disappeared, in a rush I got in by just showing the screen cap of my ticket and I had to run to the train on super long stairs with a huge 30kg luggage. The staff at the train station was kind enough to call the train driver to wait for me while I take the lift instead.

There was a ticket issue at the airport for my return flight. Airline staffs said I need to purchase a new one way ticket as my original ticket is invalid, there was a small fuss dealing with refunds. Yet I need not to complain, the manager proactively resolved the issue by letting me fly with the original ticket without paying any extra.

💖 Attracts Friendship, Good And Kind People, Plus Meaningful Exchanges 💖

As I mentioned, the Taiwan trip was set out to experience vending out of my country, and it turns out to be a series of events where I meet interesting people and befriended.

I had previously spoken to @vitivar04 briefly online, who is an expert of Viking and pre-medieval Scandinavian culture in Chinese speaking regions and he agreed to meet when I’m in Taiwan. We unexpectedly met at the Magical Forest Market as he was helping a friend out who was also vending there. 

We also met at Chiayi afterwards, where we chatted and shared our love towards Scandinavia, our own magical tools and exchanged gifts. 

@chickenmansphilosophy there’s nothing really related to philosophy, he collects bones around Taiwan in the wild and cleans them up to repurpose. A friend who I met at the market, and had the pleasure to further catch up in his studio afterwards. 

Grateful for him to receive me late after midnight and the next day at very short notice. Meaningful exchanges through the work we are currently doing and how we came to where we’re at, the connection with nature and such.

I also got a magical tool from him that I have not been actively searching for.

🎁 Receiving Of Gifts 🎁

Meeting a ceramics artist I have been admiring for a long time in Tainan for the first time, we have a shared interest in tea and specifically rock tea, so the bond came easily. She proactively invited me to perform tasseomancy for herself and her friend after finding out I can do readings. 

I received lai see (red pocket) and porcelain cups for the exchange, she even went as far as treating me for lunch and coffee. Although it's technically still within the Lunar New Year period, it's already at the tail end so the lai lee was quite a surprise.

🌹 Attracting Potential Love Interest 🌹

I was asked out on dates after I returned to Hong Kong, unexpectedly. Out of nowhere I am approached by a friend who I never thought would have interest in me, we connected in an event and was then asked out for a few times.

本來這次二月份的台灣之旅是為了排戰自己，嘗試到自己的國家以外的地方去出攤和講述有關於魔法和北歐的民間巫術，也是首次以廣東話和英語外的語言作交流，所以即使文化相近也相對的有陌生感。

在旅程期間配戴護符，什至是回港後也一直為我帶來好運和幫助，超越了自己對此的想像。

🫂 良好的溝通和交流，協助建立關係 🫂

無論去到哪裡都能夠順暢的溝通，基本上完全沒有遇到任何困難。即使是平常遇到素未謀面的陌生人而要交流時可能會出現的焦慮症狀也未有出現，相對平和。

一天當我戴著護符外出時收到一位朋友的訊息，說他正在經歷非常困難的情況，那刻的直覺是叫我去跟他聊聊，最後成功幫他轉化了情緒得到適當的休息。直到兩星期後寫這篇文章的今天，我剛好收到他的訊息說自從我們見面後，他過得很好，發生了一些好事也遇上了不錯的機會。

🍀 獲得運氣和幫助 🍀

在10 日的台灣旅程之中，很多情況都很幸運且有利。

大部分的餐廳都是9 - 10 點左右就關門了，而我則是要工作至晚上8 點，當回到飯店再外出吃晚飯時間已經很晚了。不過我每天都能找到好吃的點，什至是開到凌晨2 點，這對素食者來說真的是難得地遇上的幸運。有其他日子跟同行的友人一起外出用餐就沒有這種運氣。

有一次是在Google 地圖上看到一家咖啡廳甜點很好吃的樣子就直接走過去了。完全沒有看到是超人氣店，不能预約位置、沒有外帶，只能親自到場留名字等店家有位置再打給你。那是一家很小的店，只有四張小桌和吧台的位，而我抵逹時已過了晚上12 時，店家還有差不多兩小時就要關門了，在我前面還有4 組客人。在附近繞了一圈剛打算離開的時候，店家就來電說有位置了，最後成功吃到美味的甜點。

在沒有任何計劃的情況底下，成功買到了在平日一天只有兩個班次的往台北的自強號。雖然時間有點緊湊，預了20 - 30 分鐘的時間，但我也對能夠坐上計程車到火車站去有點太有信心，差點就趕不上。

在app 上叫了車但等了一會也沒人接單開始有點焦慮，最後有司機接單了，但實在是太趕急，時間上看來可能會趕不及，也有考慮要不要退票。告知了要趕車，然而司機大哥也說了車程需要15 分鐘左右，但最後竟然7 分鐘就到了，而且是在列車開出前的一分鐘到站。

在計程車上發現電子車票消失了（後來才知道原來是我搞不懂台鐵的車票系統），幸好當時衝到車站能憑截圖進入。拖著一個30 公斤的行李的我，被站長叫我跑下超長的樓梯去上車，但我真的沒辦法這樣做。然後站長就直接幫我打電話給車長讓他等我坐升降機下去，成功趕上。

回港的那程飛機出了點小問題，在機場櫃位check-in 時被職員告知我的回程機票不能使用，需要另外購買回港的單程機票，有關於原本機票的退票手續也有點麻煩的狀況。雖然來來回回的溝通花了一點時間，但最後華航的經理主動提出我可以照樣使用原本的機票上機，免卻了一堆麻煩也省下了一筆費用。

💖 吸引友誼和善良的人們與有意義的交流 💖

在文章開首時有提及過，原來只是打算到台灣探索新事物，作出一點不同的嘗試，但最後演變成一系列的交友活動，遇見了不少有趣的人。

去年在綱上認識到異教人@vitivar04  （號稱全東亞最懂古北歐和盧恩的男子），就已約定了到台灣見面。這次旅程的開頭就已意外地在魔法屾林市集遇見了到朋友的攤作為小幫手的他。之後也有在嘉義見面，有更深入的聊天分享了共同的對於北歐文化的愛，與及自己的隨身魔法小道具，也交換了禮物。

@chickenmansphilosophy 雞男哲學 - 這人其實跟哲學無關。事實上是在台灣不同的地方撿動物骨頭，帶回清理重新利用。這是另一位在市集內遇上進而有幸成為朋友的人，也從他那裡獲得了我需要的魔法道具。

雖然後來在台北再約他到工作室見面很晚也有點怱忙，幸好他仍樂於接待，也有很多有意思的對話，了解到大家現在正在做著的事情與及經歷，和自然的連結等。

🎁 獲得禮物 🎁

在台南的最後一天跟我仰慕了很長一段時間的陶藝家前輩在她的工作室見面，我們都愛茶，也都十分喜愛岩茶，所以也很容易就熟絡了。而她因為知道我懂得占卜，所以主動地邀請了我為她和在場的另一位朋友做茶葉占卜，讓我感到受寵若驚。

之後她和朋友分別給了我她製作的茶杯和利是為謝禮。也一起吃了午餐和喝了咖啡，都被請客了。雖然那時還勉強算是農曆新年期間，但也已到尾聲了，收到利是實在太令我震驚。

當我回到香港後在活動中遇到朋友，算是久未見面吧。聊了一下以後後來也有幾次被約出去再見面，然而和這位朋友的連結卻是我完全意想不到的。
